The Made In Indy Podcast visits DJ MetroGnome at his Broad Ripple based school, Deckademics. The first and only DJ school in Indy, Deckademics has expanded its platform to now incorporate music production classes. Their motto, “#YouCan’tDownloadPractice” is a way of life for its creator, MetroGnome. We dive straight in, and nostalgically discuss what it was like growing up in the Circle City, and how his love for music began with a brother that is a music aficionado. The DJ & Instructor opens up about the path that led him to becoming a respected creator in Indy. He pays homage to some of his musical inspirations, and even shares the first records he ever purchased. We reveal his philosophy as DJ, and his advice for anyone who is interested in pursuing the craft. Hard work, a great attitude, and nurturing one’s talent are key themes of our conversation.
